1yr. Fairfax Anniversary

One year ago today, Team Thompson officially moved to Fairfax, Va. What a ride it has been! Since then, Claire was born, Bruce started Kindergarten, I became a MinivanMama, Robert has a great job and Linda and Jane have grown up soooo much! We just signed another 1yr. lease with our landlord. Despite the stairs, we really love our location and the size of our place. Who knows what the next year holds. I certainly would've never thought we'd be here.
Anyway, thanks for all of your love and support over this past year. We appreciate you all so much.
We're having some cake tonight to celebrate.

Visit to the Air Force Memorial

We visited the Air Force memorial the other day. Here are some pics. The one is a pin and pic someone had left at the "lost airmen" portion of the memorial. The 1st pic is a view of DC from the memorial.(you can see the Pentagon to the right) The 3 white towers are huge and there is a big star at the base of it.

Random Pics from our North Carolina Trip

Ironically, we didn't get a pic by a North Carolina sign, but South Carolina is literally half a mile down the road from there house. Bruce is standing in front of the Bank of America building in downtown Charlotte. Also, there is the Bank of America stadium. We had a fun trip.

Thompson Tidbits

Robert Should get a raise in March for doing well on his reviews. Everything just got switched around a bit in the SBA so Robert will soon start to add marketing on top of his loan analysis job. He has decided that he will start looking for SBA jobs in SoCal(Orange County or San Diego offices) in 3yrs. He would like to build his resume by writing some business books and eventually starting law school. You can't say he's not ambitious!!

I stop babysitting in the next week or so and I couldn't be happier about it. It was just pushing me over the edge having to do it everyday and trying to schedule everything I needed to do in the mornings.

Bruce and Linda start swimming lessons in February at a Rec Center and are really excited. Yes, it's an indoor pool. Bruce is reading books by himself and loves to write. He loves learning. He is compassionate and came home asking me if I could pack all his toys up so he could give them to a boy in his class that doesn't have any. Linda is bored and wishes she could start school next year. She still keeps me so busy and is in to everything. She is getting even more sneaky with age. :)

Jane is ruling the Nursery as one of the oldest kids. Speaking well and loves computer games and the Charlotte's Web movie. Claire is trying her hardest to crawl and she gets so frustrated that she can't do it yet. I think she'll have her first tooth come through soon.

Tomorrow we all venture off to North Carolina to visit Danny Heid and family. We are looking forward to a little family vacation and seeing some new parts of the country.

You Never Know Why Things Happen

#1 While Robert worked for Wells Fargo we felt that Robert should look for another job. To our surprise the job he got was in the desert.

Shortly after we took the job at the SBDC and we moved, Wells Fargo got rid of almost all of Robert's division. He would have lost his job.

#2 Robert was informed that the SBDC did not have money to fund his office anymore. We were panicked because I was pregnant and it took a long time to find a job.

Because Robert lost his job I was able to stay with my sister when she was ill. As soon as she was better, Robert got hired on with Banco. He REALLY enjoyed that job.

#3 Despite Robert working his tail off, he was informed he needed to "resign" from Banco because he didn't meet his numbers. Had his loans funded a few months earlier we would have kept the job since he ended up being top producer once they all went through.

We moved to DC. Robert found out today that ALL of the Banco employees were laid off as of Dec. 1, 2008. We would be left scrambling for a job in this bad economy.
