Trunk or Treat!

Our church had a trunk or treat party on Saturday evening. We had a good time. There was a chili cook-off, cake walk(which I was in charge of), costume parade, and trunk or treating. Claire especially enjoyed everything as this is the first Halloween that she was really old enough to understand what was going on and enjoy it. We got in to the car afterward and she was sucking on a lollipop and said, "I like Halloween!"   :)
The Costumes

Bruce and Linda are doing a costume change for real trick-or-treating tonight.
Robert won top 3 in the chili cook-off!

The Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we headed out to Valley Center to visit Bates Nut Farm. They have a lot of Fall activities and most importantly, pumpkins! We had a fun day. We left Oceanside at 70degrees and arrived in Valley Center at 90degrees! You can see some red faces in the pictures.
If you look close you can see the kids and I on the wagon ride. The kids loved the horses.
Robert and the kids did the straw maze. My kids spent a long time going in every direction and really enjoying. it. I sat in the shade. :)
The kids each picked out a pumpkin on the way out.
HAPPY FALL EVERYONE!

The Speech Graduate

Bruce graduated from Speech today. He started Speech when he entered Kindergarten. It was really hard to understand what Bruce was saying back then. So, it was really frustrating for him and for us.

When he entered Speech 3yrs. ago this was the report:
"He distorts the v, sh, ch, th, r, and omits l at the end of words."
The report we got today was much different:
"He can articulate his words with 100% accuracy."

We are so proud of Bruce. This certainly didn't come easy for him. He put a lot of effort and practice in to being able to pronounce these sounds correctly. He celebrated with cookies and a new video game. Hooray for the graduate!

Pics From Last Few Weeks

I helped in Jane's Kindergarten class for the first time this year. It was fun. I always forget how much I enjoy working with kids. Jane is the one raising her hand. That's my girl! :)
When I pick Jane up in the afternoon I like to find the kids at recess and see what they're up to. As you can see, there are no surprises here.
Bruce was playing handball.
Linda was in the butterfly garden.

First Win

Bruce's soccer team finally had their first win of the season. It was a long time coming for these boys. They were so excited. They won 3-2. Way to go Bruce! It was a good lesson for Bruce on not giving up and working hard. We celebrated at Shakey's pizza. Bruce was one happy kid running off of the field at the end of the game. He ran over and gave me a big hug.:)

Rogers Scholar

The kids and I did a quick one day trip to Palm Desert. We left Wed. after school and came back Thur. afternoon. The kids were great on the drive and we had fun.
Wednesday night my mom, Suzanne, my daughter Linda, and I attended a scholarship dinner for my mom. She is currently attending Cal State University. She graduates next year! This is her 2nd year receiving the Rogers Scholarship. It's a very prestigious scholarship and she has worked very hard to earn it.
She gave a great speech. We're so proud of her.
