Claire is 6!!

Claire turned 6yrs. old today!
She is just looking so grown up and lovely these days.
She always keeps us smiling. We love her very much!

Some facts about Claire:
Claire loves to cuddle.

She has a hard time sitting on a chair at the dinner table. She can never get the chair exactly the right distance from the table and it's always frustrating to her. Many times she just gets rid of the chair completely and stands up to eat.

Claire still has the habit of twisting her hair. This results in a lot of tangles and in a lot of her hair coming out. I'm not sure that she'll ever outgrow this habit.

Claire's favorite animals are unicorns and pug dogs.

Claire is really good with numbers and math.

Her favorite thing to do at the beach is to dig up sand crabs.

She likes to do hair.

She is in gymnastics.
She hates wearing socks and shoes.

Eye-yi-yi

When Bruce got his glasses prescription the Dr. asked me if Bruce had ever had trauma to his right eye or if there was a history of Glaucoma in our family. Well, this made me nervous! Yes, there is a history of glaucoma on both sides of the family, and yes, he has been hit in that eye a few times with the soccer ball and also had stiches above his right eye when he was younger. The Dr. said that the optical nerve looked very different in Bruce's right eye. The good news was that the eye pressure was the same on both eyes. Options: 1. The optical nerve just developed differently and looks different in his right eye. 2. He had trauma to the eye which caused the optical nerve to be damaged and start deteriorating. 3. Glaucoma (which is really rare in children)

I've been stressed out about this. We went back to the Dr. today and had a really thorough examination. The pressure in both eyes is still the same and low. They also dilated his eyes to make sure they weren't missing anything. Everything looked great.

We go back in 6 months to make sure the optical nerve has not changed for the worse and also to do a pressure check. If those things check out then we won't have any reason to worry.

We are sooo happy and grateful that his eye seems to be just fine for now. Bruce and I were talking on our way home from the Dr. about how miraculous our eyes are and how we need to thank our Heavenly Father more for our ability to see.
Update in 6months....

Claire's Birthday Party

This past Saturday we had a birthday party to celebrate Claire turning 6. We just invited family, but just with family we had 37 people at the party! It was really fun. The kids played Pin the Bow on Hello Kitty and also did pillowcase races. They got a candy medal at the end. Here are some pictures of her party!
At the end of the day when Claire gave me a hug and kiss goodnight, she said,
"I love you mama. It was the best birthday ever."  :)

4th of July

For Independence Day this year we joined a bunch of Robert's family up in Chino, CA. His Aunt Marlene invited us all up for food, swimming, and fireworks. In Chino you're allowed to buy and set off fireworks, so the kids were really excited. It was their first time seeing fireworks up close, even their first time using sparklers. We had a great time. It reminded me of Independence Days when I was growing up.
