5th Grade Graduation...Our First

We had a great morning at Bruce's 5th grade graduation on Tuesday. We're so proud of Bruce. He is such a good boy and has had a very successful year. After graduation Bruce chose to go to Pit Stop for lunch. Tomorrow is officially his last day of 5th grade.
We are anxiously moving on to uncharted territory, middle school! He'll attend Lincoln Middle School in the fall.

Shout out to Jane and Linda

I emailed a thank you to all of the teachers. This is the response from Jane's teacher:

Of course! Thank you for raising such a wonderful girl for me to spend a year with! Jane is absolutely one of the sweetest people I’ve had the pleasure of teaching. While I look forward to spending the summer break with my family, I also know that I will miss seeing my students, Jane especially.

Mr. Phillips

This is the note Linda's teacher left on her report card:

Linda is a great helper! She is dependable and thoughtful of others. She works hard at everything she does. She is a strong girl who sticks up for herself and looks out for the well-being of others. I have enjoyed getting to know her this year. I know she will be successful in whatever she sets her mind and heart out to do. Keep up the great work! I am so proud of her!

Love, Mrs. Cox

Zen

I was able to go watch Jane's last yoga class after school last week.
She's really enjoyed it.
She was excited to show me all of the poses she had learned.

Chess Champions!

Bruce had his district chess tournament this morning and his school won!
Bruce tied for most wins on his team.
Two wins, two schools. Coincidence? I think not. :)

He had a lot of fun. It was fun to be able to be there to watch this year. His cousin, Karis, was there  playing for another school.

**Bruce had a play off with the girl that tied him for first in the school and he won! So, he is officially the best chess player at Palmquist. He got a trophy and movie tickets.

Student of the Month - May

Linda received the student of the month award this morning at school. Her teacher said that she really deserved it. I agree. Linda is a kind, thoughtful person. She has such a good heart and is just a lovely person in every way. I'm telling you the girl is going to grow up to be Mary Poppins. :) She told her teacher that she wants to be a babysitter when she grows up. Her teacher told Linda to consider being a teacher. She'd be a great teacher! She holds classes for her little sisters all of the time.
Here is the poster she made. What I love about it are the 3 wishes she made. The typical answers would be to wish for money or toys. All three of Linda's wishes had to do with the happiness of others.
Wish 1. That everyone in the world could have a family and a home.
Wish 2. There is no more crime!
Wish 3. That everyone could have everything they need.

She is going to miss her teacher, Mrs. Cox, very much next year.

Hooray For Contacts

Bruce got his contacts today. Here he is putting them in by himself for the first time. The lady was not very patient or nice to him. Luckily, he was a pro right away.

He's looking forward to being able to see at soccer practice tonight. :)
