"Dude, I'm Open!" - 1st Soccer Game

THE CHEER SECTION!
THE GIRLS WERE SO HAPPY THERE WAS A PLAYGROUND!
THE AFTER GAME GERM EXCHANGE! :)
Bruce had his first soccer game yesterday. He had so much fun. He was a little baffled though that he was getting hurt (hit in the face, falling down, etc) and nobody thought anything of it. He is #3 in the video on the silver team. We were lucky that Grandma & Grandpa Thompson were in town for his game! It was perfect weather. You can hear the cool breeze on the video. I loved hearing Bruce yelling, "Dude, I'm open!"

Bruce's After School Interview

What was your favorite thing you did today? -
"reading books"

What was your least favorite thing you did today? -
"I liked everything except library. All you do is pick books out. That's it."

What do you think about 1st grade? -
"Umm, good."

What did you do at recess? -
"I raced some of my friends."

Are you ready to go back tomorrow? -
"Yes!"

Did you get in trouble today? -
"No" Are you sure?- "I didn't!"

Bruce was also very happy to learn that he will still get snack in the 1st grade and said 1st grade was better than he expected it to be.

Back To School! 1st Grade!

With Transformers backpack in tow, Bruce headed off to the 1st grade this morning! He was so excited to get going. His teacher, Mr. Campet, was also his Kindergarten teacher. All but 2kids in his class were in his class last year so he's starting the year with lots of friends. It's part of a "looping" program they have at his school that we chose to participate in. Bruce was in full-day Kindergarten last year so he's already used to being at school all day.

It's back to being all girls at home in the days.
We'll miss our Bruce!
Geese, 3 kids is EASY! :)

Claire's Catastrophe

(Claire at the hospital after her x-ray and one of the few moments where she wasn't crying.)

Yesterday when we were at playgroup with my ward Claire decided to stand up on one of the chairs and the chair tipped over on to the cement. At first I thought she may just have a bump on her head but when I picked her up she was bleeding all over. Finally figured out the blood was coming from her left hand which was already missing one fingernail. She was in some serious pain. A friend at playgroup helped me get her to the ER. Other friends took my van keys and my 3older kids. Everyone was so kind and helpful as I tried to get Claire's hand and bump on the head looked at. I was at the ER for hours. They did an x-ray on Claire's hand and cleaned her up and here are the results:

Left Hand:
left ring finger bone is cracked
left ring finger had to get 2 stitches underneath it
removed middle and pointer fingernails
left middle finger had to have 2 stitches

Needless to say, it was a very long day. It was hard to watch her go through so much pain and know there was nothing I could do to make it better. Anyway, she seems to be in good spirits this morning as long as she has some Tylenol or Motrin. She'll be x-rayed again in a month to make sure the bone repairs itself. Stitches come out in 7days.

(Finally at home with daddy after a long day at the ER. Hand all fixed up and hospital ankle bracelets.)

Look out preschool, here she comes!

We found out that Linda was accepted in to preschool this year! She will go in the afternoons at the same school that Bruce attends. Hooray for Linda!
She is one excited girl.
(PS - If we were still in California, Linda would've started kindergarten this year but she misses the cut off date here in Virginia.)

It's Official, I'm a Soccer Mom!

Bruce just before practice. He was so happy to be able to play with a bunch of boys his own age.
Coach Thompson in action. He did a great job with the boys...and he has a few rowdy ones. It was fun to watch both of my boys.
The kids playing around before and after practice. The girls found a little friend to play with and Claire tried to drink out of all of the kids water bottles on the sidelines.
