Eagle Paperwork

Bruce FINALLY got his Eagle Scout paperwork submitted to the district office. Hallelujah! He had to get 5 reference letters. He got letters from his high school English teacher, golf coach, YM President, former primary teacher, and Robert. He had to include pictures of the progression and completion of the project, get a ton of signatures and fill out very detailed paperwork. He also had to include a personal goal letter. It probably took longer to do the paperwork than it did to do the project! We were all relieved when the lady taking his paperwork said that everything looked like it was in order. Now he waits to hear about his Board of Review interview. So. Darn. Close. It's a huge weight off.

 We also put all of his merit badges on his sash. 

They represent all of the hard work Bruce has put forth over the years. 

Middle School Promotion

Linda finished up her last year of middle school. She did a great job! She got one B her 6th grade year and the rest As for all three years. She worked so hard! She had fun at all of the end of the year events. She had a beach day, an 8th grade dance, and a promotion ceremony. I'm even more proud of Linda for the great person and example I know she was during her middle school years. 

New adventures await her in high school! 

Thompson Happenings

A few things that have been going on around here lately. 

The girls and I attended our first horse show at the fairgrounds. It was really great. 

Jane has been taking a sewing class. This Harry Potter pillow is her favorite creation so far.

Jane and Linda did track and field at school. Jane was able to go to one of the meets.

Jane got a paid job walking the neighbor's dogs and feeding her chickens. Linda is cleaning a neighbor's home.

 Last night was the last concert that Linda will have in middle school.

Bruce made the Honor Roll at his high school and also attended his basket ball banquet.

Claire killed it on 80's day at school. She said she was, "Over the top."

Jane attended her first Young Women activity.

 The girls continue to volunteer at the horse ranch. They take lessons and Linda(and sometimes Jane) do a horse vaulting class.

Linda went to high school orientation.

Claire's Spring Break

Claire had her spring break a week before the rest of the kids. I think she really enjoyed hanging out with me for the week with no other kids around. She also got to spend the week with Grandma Linda since she was visiting. 

We went to the park a couple of times to hunt for lizards, try to catch butterflies, play with her cousin, and have fun! We visited our favorite bakery, walked the street fair, and shopped. It was a nice week and a great reminder to me that slowing down and enjoying the simple things in life is so important. 

Conference Weekend

Robert, Linda, and Jane made a weekend trip to Salt Lake City, Utah for April general conference. They had a great time. They watched the Saturday morning session in the Tabernacle. Linda and Jane attended the Saturday afternoon session in the Conference Center and all three of them made it in to the Sunday morning session in the Conference Center. They got to see our new prophet speak. They had to leave the hotel at 6:30am and walk to the conference center to stand in line in 46degree weather to get the Sunday tickets. They said it was worth it. 
They played in the snow, Linda did baptisms in the Salt Lake temple with names she found, swam and exercised at the hotel, did some shopping, and had Easter dinner with my Aunt Carole and my cousins. The Easter Bunny even found them at the hotel!
I think the girls will always remember this trip they made with their dad.
Bruce, Claire and I stayed home this time. We had Easter dinner with Gregg and hung out with my mom.

Eagle Scout Project

For Bruce's Eagle Scout project he chose to build three 8' long storage benches and two table carts for the after school enrichment program at Scholarship Preparatory Academy. It was an ambitious undertaking that took a lot of volunteer hours and dedication. We had a lot of generous help from cash to man hours. Paul Plyler, Bruce's former primary teacher and 11yr. old Scout leader was so helpful in helping Bruce choose and implement the project. He came up with the blue prints and put in a lot of time and effort to see it through. We're all so grateful! Here are a few pictures of the journey.

It actually happened...7hrs. straight working and building this Saturday.

The following Saturday, Grandpa and the missionaries helped us paint.

Bruce, Robert, and I helped put on the locks.
Delivered! He did it. We're so proud.
