Bike Rodeo

The elementary school had a Bike Safety Rodeo for all the kids this past weekend. It was really well done. I was really appreciative of all the work everyone did to put on such a fun day for my kids.
Here's Jane waiting in line to get her tired pumped up. Linda got a new tire put on because hers was old. Claire helped the guy fix her bike.:)
The next station was where they fitted the kids with new bike helmets...for FREE.

They had a safety obstacle course for the kids.
Linda and Jane enjoy enjoying their snacks.
My biker gang at the end of the day. It may seem like a pretty simple thing, but we really enjoy the simple things in life around here.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a very relaxing Labor Day weekend. It was nice to have a three day weekend after our first full week of school. On Saturday, Bruce had a soccer tournament in Del Mar, CA. He had games at 10am and 2pm. The girls played on the playground before the games started, and we went out for pizza in between games. Bruce did a great job. Grandpa was even able to make it to the first game which Bruce was really excited about.
Sunday we went to church in the morning then relaxed the rest of the day.
Monday afternoon we headed to Nuevo, CA  to hang our with Robert's family. Tom and Ember just got a home with a pool. We had good food and the kids had a lot of fun swimming.

OT Robert's tweets

Bruce played two soccer games on Saturday. Bruce played well but they lost both games. Might be a long season.

Linda got some training last week in sewing. She loves the clothes world. She's glued to project runway.

My birthday is next week and I'm registered at Sports Authority, FYI

I'm CPR and first aid certified for now. I have a card to prove it!

Jane loves Kindergarten...has two friends. Claire wants to go so bad.

Testimony

Today was fast and testimony meeting at our church. Bruce chose to share his testimony with the congregation for the very first time. It was so sweet. Bruce has never asked to share his testimony in church before. He's not one of those kids that needs to have the spotlight on himself. After he was baptized he told me that he thought he would like to share his testimony now. My heart was pounding out of my chest when he went up to the podium. I was so nervous for him. I wanted it to be a good first experience for him. Being the prepared kid Bruce is, he had me write down for him what he wanted to say before he went up. He kept it short and sweet. I told him that this was a good thing that he was doing and shared with him that his testimony would forever be recorded in heaven. (D&C 62:3 Nevertheless, ye are blessed, for the testimony which ye have borne is  recorded in heaven for the angels to look upon; and they rejoice over you, and your sins are forgiven you.) He headed up to the podium with his little notebook in hand and said,
"Hi. My name is Bruce.
I was baptized last month.
I know the church is true.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
I know the angels were rejoicing over Bruce today.

Bruce was so funny when I tucked him in to bed tonight. He said, "Mom, I really think my testimony was too short." :) I told him it was just right and that he'd have plenty of more opportunities in his life to add on to it.

Three Kids In School!

Today was the first day of school. I now have a 3rd Grader, 2nd Grader, and Kindergartner!
There they go. Heading in to the school!
Jane had her first day of Kindergarten. Her teacher is Mrs. G. Jane entered school a little scared but came out very happy and excited to tell me all about Kindergarten.
I felt sad leaving her there all lonely on the carpet.
Linda is in 2nd grade with Mrs. Bailik.
Bruce is in 3rd with Mrs. Wickman.
Here's hoping for a great school year!

Cub Scouts

Well, Bruce is now 8yrs. old and officially a Cub Scout. He has been looking forward to Cub Scouts for a long time now. Having 3 sisters will get you really excited about doing anything with all boys. :) Sister P. is his leader and she had a pool party today. Bruce had a lot of fun, it was his first official Cub Scout function. We're looking forward to working on earning merit badges and being a part of this program.
He hopes to be an Eagle Scout one day like his dad.
Bruce is on the left side of both pics. He had fun swimming and then eating pizza.
